distinguish

[基本用法]

       1) vi./vt. [~(between) A and B/~ A from B]

        to recognize the difference between two people or things. 区别;辨别 synonym: differentiate

e.g. People who cannot distinguish between colors are said to be color blind.

        It was hard to distinguish one twin from the other. 

        Sometimes reality and fantasy are hard to distinguish. 

        We can distinguish five meanings of the word "mad".

        The twins are so alike it's difficult to distinguish one from the other.

confuse

[基本用法]
 

1)

 

vt. to think wrongly that one person, thing, or idea, etc. is someone or something else. 混淆;搞错

e.g. Donald Reagan, not to be confused with the former president Ronald Reagan.
I always confuse you with your sister-you look so alike.
People might well confuse the two products.
  2) vt. to make someone feel that they cannot think clearly or do not understand. 使困惑,使糊涂
e.g. Don't give me so much information - you're confusing me!

form

[基本用法]
  1)

n. the way in which something exists, is presented or appears. 形式;方式

e.g. We oppose racism in all its forms.
The assignment can take any form you like - a written essay, a piece of recorded music, or whatever.
  2)

n. a type of something. 类型;方式

e.g. Trains are a very cost-effective form of transport.
She dislikes any form of exercise.
  3) n. an official document with spaces where you have to answer questions and provide information. 表格
e.g. I was interested in the job and sent off for an application form.
 

4)

v. (especially of natural things) to begin to exist and gradually develop into a particular shape; to make something begin to exist in a particular shape. 形成;塑造

e.g. Flowers appeared, but fruits failed to form.
